The BUILD UP Skills ‘Construye 2030’ project has organised the first seminar with more than twenty experts in sustainable construction to discuss and contrast the first results of the initiative.
Yesterday, twenty-six professionals related to sustainable construction met at a seminar organised in the framework of the BUILD UP Skills ‘Construye 2030‘ project, co-funded by the European Commission’s LIFE Clean Energy Transition programme, at the CSIC’s Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences (IETcc-CSIC) to discuss the current barriers to achieving Europe’s energy targets.
The meeting started with the second meeting of the project, behind closed doors, in which the partners worked on the progress of the first output, the Status Quo of the building sector, as well as on the training needs throughout the value chain of the sector and which are fundamental to achieve the energy performance of buildings, urban sustainability and contribute to the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
Workshop on the challenges of the building sector
After the meeting, the first workshop in support of the project was held with the participation of different professionals from key entities of the sector, among them: Positivelivings; el Consejo General de la Arquitectura Técnica (CGATE); la Asociación Promotores Inmobiliarios de Madrid (ASPRIMA); BMI Group Spain; el Clúster de la Edificación; Saint Gobain Isover y Placo; el Instituto de la Construcción de Castilla y León; el Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas; la Asociación Española de construcción Industrializada (Offsite Construction Hub, OCH); CRN en Edificación y Obra Civil; el Instituto Español del Cemento y sus Aplicaciones; y el Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico.
After a brief presentation of the project, the partners made a tour of the BUILD UP Skills initiative in Spain from its inception in 2011 to the current ‘Construye 2030’ and invited participants to divide into four working groups to address the barriers to achieving the energy targets set in the 2030 Agenda, based on four aspects (which coincided with the discussion tables): economic, administrative, structural and cultural/educational.
An interesting debate that will help to complement the analysis of the Status Quo of the sector and to set the objectives of the Roadmap.
The experts participating in the workshop will also be able to participate in the National Qualification Platform, which constitutes a reference space on training issues for the construction sector and which aims to bring together as many professionals as possible to create a virtual working environment to address the immediate and future challenges of the industry.
