On 22 March, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency brought together the 15 BUILD UP Skills projects, which are currently being developed in the framework of the European Commission’s Life Clean Energy Transition programme, to present and discuss the different Training Roadmaps for the sector that have been elaborated at national level.
The session was part of the working meetings scheduled to share the progress made by the European consortia since the publication of the Status Quo, which identified, among others, the training needs of the sector to achieve the 2030 Objectives.
The event was structured in two sessions:
- The first one focused on sharing the process of shaping the different Roadmaps to achieve the characteristics of the measures included. During the session, almost all countries mentioned the need for the sector to attract workers, as there is a growth in activity that is not matched by the number of people employed. In terms of training, artificial intelligence, robotics, digitalisation and knowledge of the new requirements derived from the new European directives are among the highest priority common needs.
- The second session was based on how the projects are gaining the support of the different stakeholders, especially on the measures of the Roadmaps. For this purpose, the BUILD UP Skills projects rely on the so-called National Qualification Platforms (in Spain, Red Construye), formed both to develop the two main results of the project (Status Quo and Roadmap), but also to achieve the widest possible dissemination and commitment in the implementation of the Roadmap measures.
During each session, the 15 countries were divided into four sub-working groups. The ‘Build 2030’ project shared its results with projects from Ireland, Czech Republic and Poland. The other three working groups discussed the results of Austria, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and the Netherlands.
