On 16 April, the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences brought together more than 20 professionals from different areas of the sector to discuss the needs of the industrialised construction model.
José Antonio Tenorio from IETcc-CSIC was in charge of opening the event, talking about the BUILD UP Skills initiative in Spain and its historical trajectory. Next, Esther Rodríguez from the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción presented the ‘Construye 2030‘ project and the priority objective of determining which skills will be necessary to address the energy transition in the construction sector.
Guillermo Sotorrío from IETcc-CSIC, together with Tenorio, analysed the current situation of the industrialised construction model, with Elena Gayo from UNE completing the presentation by addressing standardisation in Spain.
Subsequently, the attendees debated different issues related to the training of professionals in the sector in this type of industrialised solutions, the need to have a Standard that regulates this model and its financing models. All of this with the aim of making it a vehicle for achieving the climate and energy objectives for 2030 proposed by the European Union, while at the same time attracting more employment to the sector.
