CCOO del Hábitat organises the IV Seminar in support of the BUILD UP Skills project ‘Construye 2030’

On 22 November, Comisiones Obreras del Hábitat (CCOO del Hábitat) brought together members of its organisation to find out, first-hand, what the current training needs of workers in the construction sector are.

This activity is part of the research work carried out in the framework of the project ‘Construye 2030‘ to know the current situation of the sector, with the help of experts from different fields: trade union, professional, social or educational, among others; making them know the BUILD UP Skills initiative and enabling the contribution of their knowledge and experiences.

Sonia Silva, Secretary for Sustainability and International at CCOO del Hábitat, was in charge of welcoming the participants and introducing Esther Rodríguez, International Projects Technician at the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción, who explained the general lines of the ‘Construye 2030’ project, its trajectory in the BUILD UP Skills initiative and the expected objectives.

Subsequently, the group discussed different issues related to the training of professionals in the sector, among which the following stand out:

  • Do people working in the sector have the necessary skills to achieve the 2030 goals?
  • What proposals can or should be included in the ‘Construye 2030’ Training Roadmap?
  • What measures can be taken to attract women and/or young people to the construction sector? And are there any examples that can be extrapolated from other sectors?
